Short Animation
First short Bryce animation...how fun!
This fish can't decide weather to eat the worm or watch the bubbles floating by. Meanwhile, the worm on the hook and the worm on the ocean floor have instantly fallen in love....a love that may never be....
What will happen? Will the worm on the hook wiggle his way free while the fish is distracted with bubbles?

chocolate death
My first experience playing with Bryce the 3-D modeling program...
All I could think about was sweets...so this is what I ended up with.
A gingerbread man with a bite taken out of his head and a donut soaking in some hot chocolate.
mmmm....scrumptious!!

adopt a pup!
Just a public message I made for a class reminding everyone that buying from a breeder means putting a puppy to sleep! Of course if you want a dog to show it makes sense to go pure bred, but other than that...there is no good reason =)
..and yes, the adorable pup in the cage is in fact an adopted pooch.

Shyline
I'm starting a series of works called the "Downtown" series. The toughest thing about it is naming all of the pieces. I definitely don't want to be one of those artists that defaults to the "untitled" title as that just drives me bonkers. I'm finding the thesaurus in this case to be my best friend.
Here is the piece in progress

not sure if I'm too into that foreground we'll see what happens with it

and finished

Classical Reference
Jan Van Eyck is one of my favorite classical artists. He is a Netherlands painter who is arguably the best from the 15th century. His paintings captivate me not only because of his amazing palette and light effects, but also because of his prevalent use of symbolism in his work. It's like he is painting secrets, beautiful secrets none the less. He takes these abstracted signs and symbols and puts them together in a work of art that is not only satisfying to the eye, but also to the mind.
This painting is titled Portrait of Giovanni Arnolfini and his Wife. It is my favorite classical painting because it is absolutely jam packed with symbolism. Everything in the painting from object to color to hand gesture has a meaning. The colors are just gorgeous. Anyway, this painting has stirred up controversy amongst art historians because it is unclear exactly how the symbols are meant to be interpreted. For instance, it appears she is pregnant which is a big deal because this scene is believed to be a wedding ceremony, but other art historians say this was just a fashionable style back in the day. I decided to throw in my own spin, with all due respect to Jan Van Eyck, and add a modern twist to the painting. It would not be uncommon in today's world for a woman to have a baby, and clearly it is not the husbands. Uh Oh!!! With the introduction of the little mixed baby, the mans expression turns from "I am the dominant worker bee" to something more along the lines of "HOLD THE PHONE!! That baby ain't mine!!!" Infidelity runs rampant in America, it breaks my heart but it happens all of the time. Also, the dog has been updated to look more modern as well, lol

Golden Gate
Recently, I took a trip back to my old stomping grounds, San Francisco.
After living there for a while, the innocent and majestic beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge was robbed from me by a random person I met in the city that informed me of all of the suicides that happen every year. Last week, we were on that cruise ship I photoshoped in, and as we cruised under the bridge my thoughts were tainted with a fear of a falling jumper....
For some cryptic reason, the bridge attracts severely depressed and disturbed people as a way out of life. I learned there are boats docked under the bridge on constant watch for jumpers, because it happens so frequently. I believe the average is once every week or every other week.
After living here in the south, the land of awful drivers, it has been brought to my attention the abundance of road memorials. They litter the intercity streets and also the major freeways connecting the Gulf Coast.
I wonder what would happen if families began putting floating "bridge memorials" in the bay where the bodies met their end.
Yes it is cryptic, but it is just a thought I wanted to illustrate.
I wonder if we started doing this, if perhaps the number of jumps per month would decrease?
